wireshark

i 'm thinking of configuring wireshark to sniff packets using a siflex HP board. wireshark does support the 802.15.4 protocol. is there a guide on how to do this? or have you done it? I assume there is some com software or driver that could be run on a PC. the boards I would be monitoring would be linux based.

wireshark

Hello,

LS Research does not have a guide on using wireshark to support 802.15.4. The software in the module does support promiscuous mode to sniff packets.

Does the TiWi5 also support the other part of promiscuous mode where arbitrary packets can be built? For example can I build and send a packet where I specify all of the fields in the wifi packet including addresses? I need to be able to craft packets for network testing and it is hard to find chip sets that include this feature.

The TiWi5 module does not support promiscuous mode.

You may be able to build customer packets. You will need to dig into the low level details of the wl12xx Linux driver.
